Viareggio Select Team (U18)

The Torneo di Viareggio, or official name Viareggio Cup World Football Tournament Coppa Carnevale is one of the most prestigious youth football tournaments in the world. It is held each year in Viareggio, Italy and coincides with the Carnival of Viareggio. The Viareggio Cup is a creation of the Centro Giovani Calciatori Viareggio or the Viareggio Young Players Centre,which was founded in 1947. Its overarching aim was to re-build a bright future for Italian sport after the considerable damage done by World War II. The competition is officially recognized byCONI, FIGC, UEFA and FIFA showingthe importance of the cup, not only in Italy but alsoworldwide. It has become one of the worlds most important youth tournaments. The list of great players and coaches who have appeared in the competition is extensive to say the least. From Luigi Buffon to Francesco Totti and Mario Balotelli, the quality of players that have performed on the Viareggio Cup speaks volumes for the prestige of the tournament. Past participants include Inter, Juventus, Roma, PSV (Holland), Benfica (Portugal), Ipswich Town (England), Anderlecht (Belgium), Brugge (Belgium), Pumas (Mexico), Spartak Moscow (Russia) and many more!
